What affects the price
The final bill for septic work depends on a few specific variables. First, the size of your tank and the total volume of waste removal play a role. We also look at the accessibility of your tank lids; if they are buried deep underground or hidden under landscaping, extra labor is required to reach them. The distance from our truck to the tank also impacts the setup time. Every property has unique plumbing needs, and exact pricing is confirmed free on the call.
About this service
The distribution box, or D-box, is a critical component that splits the effluent coming out of your tank and sends it evenly into the drain field lines. If this box settles, cracks, or gets clogged with debris, wastewater won't distribute properly, which can lead to soggy spots in your yard. If you notice uneven drainage or wet patches near your system, the D-box may need repair or adjustment to ensure the entire system functions as intended.
Frequently asked in Hillsboro
What does septic cleaning involve?
Septic cleaning primarily refers to the process of pumping out the accumulated sludge and scum from the septic tank using specialized equipment. This essential service removes the solid waste that can clog the system. Beyond just pumping, professionals may also inspect the tank's interior for any signs of damage, ensure baffles are intact, and verify that the inlet and outlet pipes are clear. Regular cleaning is a vital maintenance practice for septic systems.
What services does a septic tank service company provide?
A septic tank service company offers a comprehensive range of services to maintain and repair septic systems. This includes routine pumping and cleaning of the septic tank, thorough inspections to identify potential issues, and professional repairs to components such as pumps, pipes, and distribution boxes. Installation of new septic systems and drain fields, as well as emergency services for backups, are also core offerings. Preventative maintenance plans help ensure system longevity.
What are the different types of septic systems available?
Septic systems vary based on site conditions and treatment needs. Traditional gravity systems rely on the natural slope of the land to move wastewater. Pressurized systems use a pump to distribute effluent evenly across the drain field, suitable for flat terrain. Mound systems are used when the water table is high or soil is unsuitable, building a raised bed for effluent dispersal. Advanced treatment units (ATUs) offer a higher level of treatment before discharge.
How do I choose a reliable septic company?
What is involved in septic tank pumping?
Septic tank pumping involves using a specialized vacuum truck to remove the accumulated solids and liquids from the septic tank. A technician accesses the tank and uses hoses to suction out the contents, ensuring that the sludge and scum layers are thoroughly removed. This process is essential for preventing these solids from migrating to the drain field, which can cause clogs and system failure. Regular pumping is a fundamental aspect of septic system maintenance.
What should I look for in septic tank companies?
Who are septic tank installation contractors?
Septic tank installation contractors are specialized professionals responsible for designing, excavating, and installing new septic systems or replacing existing ones. They possess the technical knowledge and equipment required to properly site the tank and construct the drain field according to local codes and environmental regulations. These contractors ensure that the system is installed correctly from the outset, which is critical for its long-term performance and reliability.
